Michael Chandler headlines UFC 308 after surviving first-round scare

Michael Chandler headlines UFC 308 this Saturday, surviving a first-round scare to extend his winning streak and solidify his title contention in the lightweight division.

Chandler, 37, came out firing with his signature heavy hands, looking to impose his will early. However, the challenger weathered the storm and answered back with crisp boxing combinations of his own. The first round was a chaotic exchange of strikes, with both men landing significant shots. Chandler ultimately survived the onslaught and turned the tide in the second frame, using his wrestling background to control the pace.

In the second round, Chandler secured a takedown and ground-and-pounded his way to a decisive advantage. He continued to dictate terms in the third round, landing powerful leg kicks that slowed his opponent's movement. The fight ended with Chandler's corner throwing in the towel, awarding him a decisive victory.

With the win, Chandler improves his record to 22-7 and moves firmly back into the top five of the UFC lightweight rankings. The victory sets up a potential matchup against the division's elite, with fans and pundits already speculating about a future title shot.

Chandler's camp expressed satisfaction with the adjustment made during the fight. "We knew he was going to come out swinging," said his head coach post-fight. "We told him to be patient, and once he got a hold of him, the fight was over."

The win keeps Chandler's momentum heading into the latter half of the year, as he looks to cement his legacy as one of the most dangerous strikers in UFC history.
