Kevin Owens Secures Major SmackDown Rematch Against CM Punk on October 23

Kevin Owens is heading back into a high-stakes singles match with CM Punk. WWE has officially sanctioned the rematch for the October 23 episode of SmackDown, reigniting one of the brand's most intense rivalries.

Owens vs Punk II Set for SmackDown

The sequel to their recent clash is now official. This sanctioned match on the October 23 broadcast gives Owens a direct path to settle his issues with Punk on free television. The first encounter between the two was a physical and personal affair, setting the stage for a must-see follow-up. Securing this high-profile slot on SmackDown shows the importance of this feud to WWE's programming.

Owens Leads NXT to Victory in Canada

Before his return to the main roster spotlight, Owens was a featured attraction on WWE NXT's Canadian tour. On Saturday, October 17, he headlined a show at the Centre Slush Puppie in Gatineau, Quebec. Owens teamed with Shiloh Hill, Tony D'Angelo, and Kendal Grey to defeat the Birthright faction of Lexis King, Uriah Connors, Charlie Dempsey, and Arianna Grace. The match served as the main event, closing NXT's three-show visit to the country on a winning note. A reported 1,707 fans were in attendance for the event.

Owens also shared a personal moment post-match. He reportedly spotted the mother of fellow wrestler Evil Uno in the front row and apologized to her for his past actions against her son, adding a human touch to the live event atmosphere.

Owens now operates on two fronts. The immediate priority is the high-stakes rematch with CM Punk on October 23, a contest that will heavily influence his trajectory on the blue brand. Concurrently, his willingness to work NXT live events demonstrates his value as a draw across WWE's ecosystem. These appearances help raise newer talent while keeping Owens sharp in a different environment. His schedule is a blend of marquee television battles and foundational live event work.
