Giacomo Della Maddalena was born in Perth, Western Australia, to a family of Australian and Italian descent. He attended St. Kevin's College in Melbourne before completing his education at Aquinas College in Perth. Della Maddalena began playing rugby at a young age and transitioned to boxing at 14, which laid the foundation for his future in mixed martial arts.

Della Maddalena made his professional MMA debut in March 2016, facing Aldin Bates and suffering a TKO loss. However, he quickly rebounded, securing a nine-fight winning streak and capturing the Eternal Welterweight Championship. His impressive performances led to an invitation to Dana White's Contender Series, where he earned a UFC contract in September 2021.
