Daly Cherry-Evans faces scrutiny after Roosters loss

Daly Cherry-Evans endured a quiet night as the Roosters fell to a 24-10 loss against the Broncos on 12 September 2026, marking his lowest point since joining the club.

Now in his 15th NRL season Daly Cherry-Evans speaks openly about the urgency to win a title before his career winds down, admitting the pressure mounts each year without silverware and that this Roosters stint represents his best chance yet.

with coach Trent Robinson admitting the halves combination lacked cohesion and creativity against a disciplined Broncos defence.

Players described the post-match review as brutal, with footage showing repeated errors in defence and decision-making, leaving Daly Cherry-Evans visibly frustrated as he reviewed his own goal-line drop-out that led directly to a Broncos try.

Tom Brady emailed Daly Cherry-Evans ahead of the Roosters’ clash with Melbourne, praising his professionalism and urging him to stay focused on the premiership goal despite external noise, a gesture Daly Cherry-Evans called ‘unexpected but motivating’.

with coach Trent Robinson stating both players offer different skill sets and that Savala’s versatility in the centres and backrow ensures his value beyond the halves position.
