Tiger Woods Set for First Court Appearance After DUI Crash

Tiger Woods is set to return to the public eye for his first court appearance five months after his shock DUI arrest and car crash. The 50-year-old icon will appear in Martin County circuit court in early September to face charges stemming from a rollover accident that occurred on March 27.

Legal proceedings loom for the champion

nThe court date had been postponed several times as prosecutors continued their investigation into the incident. In July, judge Darren Steele approved an agreement allowing the State Attorney's Office to obtain hospital records connected to the crash. Woods, represented by attorney Douglas Duncan, has waived his arraignment and requested a jury trial.

The accident took place in the affluent Jupiter Island enclave when Woods flipped his SUV while attempting to overtake a truck and trailer at high speed. Police found opioid painkillers in his pocket at the scene, leading to charges of DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Following the arrest, the 15-time major winner sought professional help in Zurich, Switzerland, before returning to Florida after his girlfriend revealed a breast cancer diagnosis.

This legal battle marks a significant shift for Woods, who has remained largely out of the spotlight since the March incident. While the investigation process continues, the focus now shifts to the courtroom as the September date approaches.
