Scottie Scheffler Eyes FedEx Cup Trophy with Strong Mindset

Scottie Scheffler is coming off a dominant win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and is now looking to continue his momentum in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. With another big tournament on the way this week, Scheffler appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show," where he explained what his mindset is as he contends for the FedEx Cup trophy.

"I think mindset is just wanting to finish the season off the right way," Scheffler said. "Like I said, I've been close this year to playing some really good golf, and last week was nice, kind of getting in there and being able to get a win. You know I have two good opportunities in the next two weeks to have good starts and finish off the year the right way."

Why Scheffler's mindset matters

Scheffler's win on Sunday at the St. Jude Championship was only his second of the season, after multiple runner-up finishes. That may have been the turnaround he needed at just the right moment. He currently sits atop the FedEx Cup standings with 4,873 points, a significant lead over his rivals.

What comes next for Scheffler?

Thursday brings the BMW Championship at the Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri. Scheffler is last year's winner at the event and certainly heads in as the favorite to win it. Rory McIlroy, who is 13th in the FedEx Cup standings, won the event in 2012. The FedEx Cup postseason concludes with the Tour Championship, held from Aug. 27 to Aug. 30 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
