Roman Reigns Misses PWI 500 Again as Part-Time Schedule

Roman Reigns is not on the 2026 PWI 500 list. The reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion missed the cut despite a year that included a Royal Rumble win and a WrestleMania 42 title victory, all because he wrestled only eight matches during the eligibility period.

The PWI 500 judges wrestlers on their performance between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026. To qualify, a wrestler must have a minimum of ten matches. Reigns fell short with just eight, continuing the part-time schedule that also kept him off the 2025 list. This ends a 14-year streak of him being ranked. The top spot this year went to MJF, with Cody Rhodes and CM Punk following.

Reigns successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Penta on the September 14 episode of RAW in Mexico City. The match, which ended with a Superman Punch and Spear combo, received significant praise backstage. Initially viewed by some in creative as a one-off, support has grown for a rematch. Officials were reportedly extremely pleased with Penta's performance, strengthening his standing. Penta has since qualified for the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, keeping him in the title picture.

LA Knight directly confronted Reigns after the Penta match, setting up a title bout at October's Money in the Bank Premium Live Event. This is Reigns' next scheduled defense. The champion's current part-time status means each of his appearances and potential rivalries carries added weight, with creative decisions now factoring in his limited schedule more than ever.

TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth highlighted Reigns' skill during a discussion on the art of selling. Speaking on the Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez podcast, Nemeth pointed to Reigns' match with Penta as a recent example. "Roman's another one," Nemeth said. "He just had this incredible match where he sold the arm the entire time. It's a beautiful thing to see." He also praised Brock Lesnar and Penta for their selling abilities, calling it an art form.

• Reigns' next title defense is set for Money in the Bank in October against LA Knight.
