Patrick Mahomes Ties Tom Brady's Record With 100th Win Amid Fantasy Slump

2026-10-20 · Patrick Mahomes · Player Focus

Patrick Mahomes entered the NFL's history books on Sunday, October 18, 2026, by securing his 100th regular-season victory as a starting quarterback. The Kansas City Chiefs' 22-6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers tied Mahomes with Tom Brady for the fastest to reach the century mark, both achieving it in 131 starts.

Milestone victory ties Brady's record

Mahomes threw for 272 yards with one interception in a workmanlike performance, a game defined more by the Chiefs' stifling defence than offensive fireworks. After the win, he expressed profound respect for the quarterback whose record he now shares. "It's always an honour to be in any conversation as far as winning football with him as the GOAT," Mahomes said. He noted his own evolution, stating, "As I have gone throughout my career, I have gotten better and better at winning, it's not always pretty." The victory showed a season where efficient game management has sometimes trumped the spectacular passing displays fans expect.

Fantasy football value takes a hit

While Mahomes makes history on the field, his fantasy football stock is trending in the opposite direction. For Week 7, analysts list him among the fallers in projection updates. This reflects broader concerns about the Chiefs' passing attack, which has struggled at times to connect with a retooled receiver corps. The dip in fantasy outlook is a notable shift for a player typically drafted as a top-tier QB1, pointing to the offense's current search for consistent explosiveness.

Off-field life as a dad of three

Even an NFL superstar isn't immune to the surprises of family life. Mahomes recently admitted that his wife, Brittany Mahomes, caught him off guard with a question about Halloween costumes for their family of five. "It surprised me. I forgot about Halloween," he confessed during an October 14 press conference. He explained the intense weekly focus of the season leaves little room for planning such events. This humanizing glimpse shows the 31-year-old juggling the pressures of a championship pursuit with the ordinary demands of fatherhood.

Key takeaways from the current news cycle

  • Historic Pace: Patrick Mahomes earned his 100th win in his 131st start, tying Tom Brady's record for the fastest to reach the milestone.
  • Fantasy Dip: For the first time this season, Mahomes is listed as a fantasy football projection faller ahead of Week 7.
  • Balancing Act: The quarterback is handling the NFL season's grind while planning Halloween as a dad to three young children.
  • Team First: In his record-tying game, Mahomes prioritized a mistake-free, winning performance over gaudy personal statistics.

Mahomes and the Chiefs now look ahead to a Sunday Night Football matchup in Week 7, where they will host the Seattle Seahawks. The game offers another prime-time stage for the quarterback to silence his fantasy doubters and continue adding to his historic win total.
