Liv Morgan Teases Feud with CM Punk After Losing WWE Women's

2026-09-19 · Liv Morgan · Player Focus

Liv Morgan is no longer the WWE Women's World Champion after a stunning title change on the company's Latin America tour. Stephanie Vaquer defeated Morgan to win the championship at a live event in Santiago, Chile, a match officiated by Special Guest Referee Becky Lynch. This major development caps a turbulent period for Morgan, who has been at the center of several newsworthy angles both in and out of the ring.

Morgan's championship run concluded in hostile territory. The match was strategically placed in Vaquer's home country of Chile, setting the stage for a monumental crowd reaction and a likely title change. The atmosphere, combined with the appointment of the high-profile Lynch as referee, signaled a seismic shift. Morgan's loss was part of a rough weekend for her on-screen partnership, as Dominik Mysterio also lost his AAA Mega Championship at Triplemania 34. This double defeat creates immediate uncertainty for the controversial couple's storyline direction on WWE programming.

Fresh off her title loss, a new potential adversary has emerged. Morgan recently shared a segment with CM Punk on Netflix's Hot Ones: Extra Heat. During the chat, Morgan praised Punk but insisted Dominik Mysterio was "still so much better." Punk, staying in character, fired back by calling Morgan a "chickensh*t" for leaving the set, directly comparing her to Mysterio. This on-camera tension explicitly teases a future WWE feud. Punk and Mysterio already share an adversarial relationship on television, making Morgan a natural extension of that conflict through her association with Dominik.

Away from the ring drama, Morgan disclosed a unique personal credential during an interview with IGN. She revealed that she is an ordained minister and can legally perform wedding ceremonies. "I can marry you. So if you want to get married, you can hit your girl up," Morgan said. She considers this her greatest achievement, placing it above her Royal Rumble win and championship victories. Morgan has previous experience with wrestling weddings, having famously interrupted the Bobby Lashley and Lana wedding ceremony on Monday Night Raw in 2019.

In the same IGN interview, Morgan was asked about classic wrestling storylines she wished she could have joined. Her pick was the early-2000s faction Right to Censor, known for its controversial morality-based gimmick. She cited the group's "overall appeal" as the draw. Fellow WWE star Danhausen, also interviewed, selected the sinister Ministry of Darkness storyline. This insight offers fans a glimpse into the historical eras and characters that inspire today's performers.

  • Title Change: Liv Morgan lost the WWE Women's World Championship to Stephanie Vaquer in Chile, with Becky Lynch as special referee.
  • New Feud Teased: A recent segment with CM Punk on Hot Ones contained direct verbal jabs, hinting at a future WWE storyline.
  • Personal Milestone: Morgan is an ordained minister and considers it her greatest accomplishment outside the ring.
  • Storyline Inspiration: Morgan expressed admiration for the classic Right to Censor faction from WWE's past.

Morgan's current WWE narrative is varied. She is dealing with the immediate fallout of a significant title loss while simultaneously sparking interest in a high-profile feud with a top star like CM Punk. Her personal revelation adds an unexpected layer to her public persona. All these elements combine to keep Liv Morgan firmly in the spotlight as WWE's storylines continue to evolve.
