Kylian Mbappé fires Real Madrid past Sevilla ahead of El Clasico clash

Kylian Mbappé delivered a masterclass for Real Madrid, scoring twice in a commanding 4-1 victory over Sevilla. The win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, October 18, 2026, cuts the gap to La Liga leaders Barcelona to just six points, setting the stage perfectly for next weekend's El Clasico.

Mbappé steps up in Vinícius Jr's absence

With star winger Vinícius Júnior serving the first of a four-match suspension, the attacking burden fell squarely on Mbappé. He shouldered it with ease. His first goal in the 37th minute was a moment of pure individual quality. Receiving the ball with his back to goal, the French forward executed a sharp turn, used a deft touch to glide past a defender, and calmly rounded goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos to slot home. He completed his brace from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute after being fouled by Andres Castrin, effectively sealing the three points for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid find fluid form before Barcelona showdown

The performance was a significant improvement for Jose Mourinho's side, who had been searching for more cohesive attacking play. Turkish midfielder Arda Guler was instrumental, opening the scoring with a superb strike into the top corner in the 30th minute. Yan Diomande capped the display with a thunderous fourth goal in the 82nd minute, having earlier provided the assist for Mbappé's penalty. Sevilla's sole reply came from substitute Manu Bueno ten minutes from time. The result moves Madrid into third, one point behind Atletico Madrid and within striking distance of Barcelona at the top of the [standings](/standings).

Mbappé ends long-term Nike deal for On partnership

Away from the pitch, Mbappé has made a major commercial move, ending his 18-year partnership with sportswear giant Nike. He has signed a new, decade-long endorsement deal with Swiss performance brand On. This shift represents one of the most significant boot deals in football and aligns the forward with a brand known for its innovative running technology as it expands its football division.

• Kylian Mbappé scored a stunning solo goal and a penalty for his brace against Sevilla.

• The French superstar has swapped Nike for a new 10-year boot deal with Swiss brand On.
• Arda Guler and Yan Diomande were also on the scoresheet in a fluid team performance.

Madrid's focus now turns entirely to the Camp Nou. The victory provides a vital momentum boost, but the ultimate test of their title credentials comes next weekend. Mbappé, in sparkling form, will be central to their hopes of overturning the deficit at the summit.
