Iga Świątek has found her form just in time for the US Open. The Polish star, who described this as her toughest season, won the Canadian Open in early August and is now focused on capturing her first Grand Slam title of 2026 in New York.

After an uncharacteristically difficult first half, Świątek's season changed with a commanding victory over Elena Rybakina in the Canadian Open final on August 13. The world number eight said a longer training block after Wimbledon was key. "Everything calmed down after Wimbledon," Świątek explained on August 29. "We had a much longer training block. So it really helped me."

Her momentum was briefly checked at the Cincinnati Open. In a semifinal against Jessica Pegula on August 19, play was disrupted by rain. As drizzle began, Świątek paused her service motion, prompting a spectator to shout, "Come on let's serve! This is ridiculous." Play was halted moments later. After a delay, Pegula won the hard-fought match 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, ending Świątek's 10-match winning streak.
