Eberechi Eze faces Arteta scrutiny after Coventry City win

Eberechi Eze found himself in the sights of Mikel Arteta following Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Coventry City on Friday evening. While the Gunners secured a comfortable win to defend their Premier League crown, the midfielder's speculative long-range effort toward the end of the match has raised questions about tactical discipline.

Arsenal dominated the newly-promoted side, with goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka providing a halftime lead before Martin Odegaard added a third early in the second half. Despite the dominance, former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott suggested the head coach would not be pleased with Eze's late-game decision.

Eze's arrival at the Emirates remains a significant homecoming for the South London native. After being released by the club at age 13, he returned to his boyhood side in August 2025, completing a journey that saw him help Arsenal lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in 22 years.
