Tom Pidcock Crashes at Tour de France Due to Slippery Road Conditions

Tom Pidcock's rotten luck continues at the Tour de France. The Pinarello-Q36.5 rider crashed on the descent during Tuesday's stage, citing slippery road conditions as the cause.

What happened?

Pidcock explained the situation to TNT cameras after the stage, showing a patch of white powder still scarred across his leg alongside some blood. "I don't know what they do with the roads here, but when they clean it they put all this white shit on them," Pidcock said. "It was really slippery, especially on the descents. So I just fell in the middle of a corner."

The crash is a significant setback for Pidcock, who was already dealing with the aftermath of a mechanical issue during Sunday's racing. The mechanical forced Pidcock to watch in frustration as Mathieu van der Poel rode off his wheel and on to glory.

But I think I'm fine. It'll be a bit annoying," Pidcock said. The Briton ended with his usual wry smile, acknowledging that this is a new experience for him. "I don't think I've ever crashed in a Grand Tour before."
