What happened?

Shohei Ohtani posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying they are overjoyed to experience this wonderful day in their lives together.

The new addition

The second slide of the post showed the new child's feet wrapped in a blue blanket, leading many to believe it's a baby boy.

According to California Post reporter Dylan Hernandez, Shohei Ohtani has confirmed the sex of the newborn - it's a boy.

Career future

When asked if he wanted his son to take an interest in baseball, Ohtani said he doesn't know how long he can play and wants to do his best until his contract with the Dodgers expires.

Shohei Ohtani also indicated that children should decide their own futures and not be pressured into anything.

This season's performance

Shohei Ohtani is likely to win the NL MVP for a third straight season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, batting .295 with 17 home runs and 46 RBI.

On the mound, he has an ERA of 1.58 over 79.2 innings and 86 strikeouts, with a pitching record of 8-2 and a pWAR of 2.5.
