Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the renowned track and field athlete, won the mum's race at her son's sports day, showcasing her relentless attitude.

What happened at the sports day?

Fraser-Pryce was persuaded to race by her seven-year-old son, Zyon, and despite initial hesitation, she agreed to participate. She told the other mums, "I'm not jogging!" and ran hard, giving it 100 per cent.

Fraser-Pryce participated in the race to support her son and his school, and to show her commitment to being a involved parent. As a then 38-year-old athlete, she was aware of the risks of injury but couldn't resist the enthusiasm of her son and his friends.

What's next for Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce?

After retiring from professional athletics in September, Fraser-Pryce is embracing her new life as a "soccer mum", spending time with her son and supporting his football interests. She has traded her spikes for cleats and now spends her days ferrying Zyon to and from football practice and tournaments. Fraser-Pryce is enjoying the opportunity to be a normal parent and watch her son grow and develop his own interests. She finds it challenging to balance her own desires with allowing her son to chase his own dreams. Fraser-Pryce's son is a Manchester United fan and she often takes him to watch matches and practice. She is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of her son's life and to support him in his pursuits. Fraser-Pryce's legacy as a track and field athlete is cemented, and she is now focused on being a good mother and supporting her son's interests. She is an inspiration to many, having won numerous titles and awards throughout her career, including the 2019 World Championships in Doha, where she became the first mother in 24 years to claim a global 100 metres title.
