Saquon Barkley Sends Surprise Video to Young Fan

Saquon Barkley sent a personal video message to 7-year-old Saquon Wilson, who was seriously injured in an electric bicycle crash in St. Augustine on May 26. The Philadelphia Eagles star running back offered encouragement and prayers for his recovery.

What happened?

Saquon Wilson was riding an electric bicycle with his older sister near their home when the bike's brakes failed, throwing both children forward.

The accident

He suffered a severe injury, including brain swelling and serious injuries near his eye, and was rushed to the hospital for surgery.

Saquon Barkley's message began: "What's up Saquon? Saquon Barkley here. Got to hear your story. Just want to let you know I’m thinking about you and praying for you."

The gift

The youngster Saquon was ecstatic and showed off a signed football, gloves, and a keychain among other gifts sent by Saquon Barkley.

His mother, Jackie McSwain, said her son's love for football: and for Barkley in particular: runs deep, noting that he was named after the NFL star.

Saquon now hopes to return to the football field soon and one day play in the NFL like his namesake.

The family says they are holding onto another dream: that he may one day meet Saquon Barkley in person.

For now, the younger Saquon says he is doing “real good” as he continues to recover.

His mother said: "We have been getting great feedback from the doctors and from Saquon. He has been recovering really good and feeling real good.
