Paul Skenes Fires Back at Reporter's 'Future Yankee' Comment

Paul Skenes, the ace pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, recently found himself at the receiving end of an unprofessional comment from a reporter during a media scrum at Citizens Bank Park on Monday.

The reporter, in an attempt to get a scoop, cut Skenes off mid-sentence and made a prediction about his next team. "Hey, sorry. I just got the best interview of all time with Paul Skenes," the reporter said. "Future Yankee."

Skenes, seemingly taken aback by the interruption, needed some time to regain his train of thought. "Wow, she's super proud," another reporter quipped. "Who's that?" Skenes asked.

As a star player on a low-payroll team, Skenes has drawn considerable speculation about his long-term future. Pundits spent most of last season wondering whether the Pirates should shop their star ace, and the Yankees frequently surfaced as an intriguing trade partner.
