Nico Hülkenberg confirms 2027 Audi F1 drive amid speculation

Nico Hülkenberg has shut down speculation about his future, confirming he will remain with Audi in 2027. The German Formula 1 driver addressed rumors during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, stating there are 'no question marks' about his position.

What did Hülkenberg say about his contract?

Hülkenberg dismissed the speculation as typical 'summer noise' in F1. He emphasized that Audi is happy with both him and teammate Gabriele Bortoleto. The veteran driver holds a multi-year contract with the team, formerly known as Sauber.

'I know that the team is very happy with Gabi and me,' Hülkenberg said on Thursday. 'We are just getting started. It is the first year as a team for us.'

Why is there speculation about Hülkenberg's seat?

Rumors surfaced after Carlos Sainz expressed interest in joining Audi. The Spaniard is reportedly unhappy at Williams. Hülkenberg acknowledged the speculation but joked about Sainz potentially taking a reserve role.

'I read the rumours concerning Carlos,' Hülkenberg said. 'The position of reserve driver is available but I don't know whether he is interested.'

How has Hülkenberg performed this season?

Despite his contract security, Hülkenberg has yet to score points in 2026. His best results are two 11th-place finishes. In contrast, rookie teammate Bortoleto has earned six points.

Hülkenberg joined the team last year and has been a key figure during Audi's transition. The German driver remains confident about the team's future despite the current struggles.
