Max Verstappen dodges questions on Red Bull future after Spa GP chaos

Max Verstappen refused to budge on Thursday when asked point-blank about his future with Red Bull Racing at Spa-Francorchamps ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix on 27 July 2026.

Verstappen fielded three straight questions about his 2027 plans and still gave zero answers. “Is there any update you can give us?” a reporter asked. “No,” Verstappen replied. When pressed on the swirling speculation, he fired back, “Nothing.” Asked if he had a timeline for a decision, he repeated, “No, there’s nothing to say from my side.” The Dutchman’s blunt refusal came during his official driver press conference at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

The four-time world champion sits seventh in the 2026 drivers’ standings after a season of Red Bull’s worst form in years. What he said about the team boss

Verstappen called his bond with Mekies “really good.” He told reporters, per the Associated Press, “I get on very well with Laurent. We speak a lot on track, but also off track.” The Dutchman added that Mekies’s rapport inside the team is strong and that their open talks make him happy. “Everything for me feels very positive,” Verstappen said. “I think it’s always nice when you can discuss a lot of things with your team boss.”

Verstappen’s next chance to address the future could come after the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday.
