Justin Jefferson ranked No. 2 among NFL WRs by coaches, execs

Justin Jefferson is still considered one of the NFL’s elite wide receivers, according to a recent ranking by coaches, executives, and scouts. The Minnesota Vikings star held the No. 2 spot in ESPN’s positional rankings, despite a statistically weaker 2025 season.

What did the rankings show?

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler compiled the rankings based on input from NFL decision-makers. Jefferson received No. 1 or No. 2 votes on about 70% of ballots, with many evaluators praising his versatility and adaptability. An AFC executive called him a 'proven commodity' who can excel against any defensive scheme.

Why the drop in production?

Jefferson’s 2025 stats-78 receptions, 1,048 yards, and 2 touchdowns-paled in comparison to other top receivers. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, ranked just behind him, had 119 catches for 1,793 yards and 11 scores. The Vikings’ quarterback situation, with Kyler Murray’s return uncertain, may have played a role.

What’s next for Jefferson?

If Murray is ready for Week 1 of the 2026 season, analysts expect Jefferson’s numbers to rebound. However, another down year could lead to trade speculation. At 27, Jefferson remains a dominant force, but his 2026 performance will determine whether he reclaims his status as the league’s best.
