Jorge Martín Leads Early at 2026 Dutch MotoGP

Jorge Martín led the 2026 Dutch MotoGP early on, but Ai Ogura took his first MotoGP victory.

What happened?

Ogura beat Trackhouse Aprilia team-mate Raul Fernandez, with Martín losing his lead to the duo with nine laps to go.

Martín was hunted down by Fernandez and Ogura, who overcame a mid-race scare when his rear ride-height device became temporarily stuck down.

Early race lead

MotoGP’s first grand prix start, with full fuel, since the front holeshot ban saw Ogura briefly take the advantage before pole qualifier Martín pulled an early lead.

Martín was then overtaken by Ogura, who made his race-winning move on Fernandez shortly after and quickly pulled clear.

Incident-filled race

Marco Bezzecchi lost the title lead to team-mate Martín after a fast crash from fourth place on lap 2, and was taken for medical checks.

The Italian was sent cartwheeling through the gravel at the 200km/h Turn 15, leading into the final hairpin, but is 'Fully conscious and displays normal mobility in all four limbs'.

What comes next?

The German MotoGP at Sachsenring, the final event before the summer break, takes place on July 10-12, with Martín looking to regain his lead.

Martín will face tough competition from Ogura and Fernandez, who are now in contention for the title.

The summer break will give Martín a chance to regroup and come back stronger, but for now, he will have to settle for a disappointing finish at the Dutch MotoGP.
