Jon Moxley Feud Escalates: Bully Ray's Comments Spark Debate

D-Von Dudley, a WWE Hall of Famer, has expressed uncertainty about Bully Ray's recent comments on Jon Moxley.

What happened?

Bully Ray made the comments on his podcast, addressing Bubba Ray Dudley's controversial remarks on Busted Open. Bubba claimed the Death Riders "have not helped AEW in any way, shape or form" before accusing Jon Moxley of living out his "pro wrestling fantasies" because he has Tony Khan's backing. He went on to call the former AEW World Champion a "fraud" and declared that he would "beat the living s**t" out of him.

Why it matters for Jon Moxley

When asked about the controversy, D-Von admitted he hadn't actually heard Bully Ray's comments until they were played for him during the podcast. "That was the first time I had heard that," D-Von said. "I just heard that he was trending for people calling him an a**hole, a bully, this and that. Other than that, I had no idea what he said."

What comes next?

After hearing the remarks, D-Von said he couldn't explain why Bubba made them and questioned whether they were part of an angle. "I'm not sure why Bubba said those things. I don't know if it's a work. I don't know if he meant it. You can never be so sure nowadays if anything's a work or not."

D-Von concluded by saying he hopes there's more to the story and believes Bubba is the only one who can explain what sparked the situation. "I don't know what happened or why this all started in the first place. I pray that it's a work. That's a question for Bubba to answer. Maybe we should have him on the show to answer that question."

The challenge

The comments quickly went viral and prompted a response from MMA veteran and Bloodsport founder Josh Barnett, who challenged Bully Ray to a legitimate shoot fight. Bully initially brushed off the challenge by posting the famous P.T. Barnum quote, "There's a sucker born every minute." He later addressed Barnett directly on X, writing: "Josh, I too can handle myself fine, fight my battles. If ya ever had the itch to feel what it's like to be over so thoroughly that you can draw money, I can help you with that. Not only can I put you over but get you over in a way that would make ya ass legendary. For you anytime."

The exchange continued to fuel debate online. PRODUCE Wrestling, which has a partnership with myAEW, later offered to host a charity boxing match between Bully Ray and either Jon Moxley or Josh Barnett. Many fans pointed to Bully's initial dismissal of Barnett's challenge and his subsequent response as evidence that he was talking tough while avoiding a legitimate fight.

The controversy surrounding Bully Ray's comments has left many in the professional wrestling world wondering what's next for Jon Moxley and his Death Riders faction. Will the feud escalate further, or will it be resolved in the ring? Only time will tell.
