Jones posted a cryptic message on X, tagging Pereira and writing: “Still waiting for that trilogy fight.” The post came exactly one year after Jones announced his retirement from MMA in July 2025. Pereira, who defeated Jones by unanimous decision in their first meeting at UFC 300 on 13 April 2025, responded by calling Jones out for ducking rematches. The exchange marks the first public clash between the two since Jones walked away from the sport.

The feud carries major implications for Jones’ legacy. After a dominant decade-long reign as UFC light heavyweight champion, Jones retired at 39 with a record of 27-1.
