Jeremy Cameron Undergoes AC Joint Surgery, Faces 4-6 Week Recovery

Geelong forward Jeremy Cameron has undergone AC joint surgery after a brutal collision with GWS Giants' Clayton Oliver in their 13-point loss on July 13. The 33-year-old is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, leaving his finals availability uncertain.

What happened?

Cameron was taken to hospital in Sydney following the collision in the final quarter. The two-time Coleman Medallist had been playing as a surprise defender before the injury. This setback comes after he managed lingering soreness from a healed arm fracture sustained in last year's grand final loss to the Brisbane Lions.

Why it matters for Jeremy Cameron

The injury is a significant blow for both Cameron and Geelong. The Cats, currently ninth with a 9-8 record, are pushing to secure a top-six finish. Cameron's absence weakens their forward line, especially as they aim to return to form after the loss to GWS.

What comes next?

Geelong remains hopeful Cameron can return before the finals. The club will monitor his recovery closely over the next six weeks. Meanwhile, teammate Jack Henry (throat) and Tanner Bruhn (neck) were also injured but cleared of serious harm.

Impact on Geelong's season

With six home-and-away rounds left, Geelong faces a tough road ahead. Cameron's potential return could be pivotal in their finals push. The Cats will need to rely on other forwards to step up in his absence.
