Jade Carey makes stunning Olympic return after career doubts ahead of Paris 2024

Jade Carey storms back for one last Olympic push in Paris 2024

Jade Carey will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics after believing her elite gymnastics career was finished. The 24-year-old American will chase her first Olympic all-around medal on August 1, 2024 at Bercy Arena.

What happened to end Carey’s elite run?

Carey walked away from elite gymnastics in 2022 after a decade at the top. She said she felt her body couldn’t handle the grind anymore: the endless training, the injuries, the pressure. But by late 2023, she started missing the sport. So she returned to the training floor in January 2024, this time with a clear goal: one last Olympic shot.

Why Paris 2024 matters for Jade Carey

This isn’t just another comeback. Carey, now 24, has already locked a spot in the U.S. Olympic team after finishing third at the 2024 U.S. Classic on June 29, 2024. She scored 54.800 on vault and 14.500 on floor: numbers that put her in medal contention. But the real test comes on the biggest stage. Simone Biles, the defending all-around champion, will be in the mix. So will Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, who won silver in Tokyo 2020. Carey knows she has to hit clean routines to stand out.

What comes next for Carey in Paris

Carey’s focus is simple: hit her routines. She’ll compete in the team final on July 29, 2024, then the all-around on August 1, 2024. If she lands clean vaults and floor routines, she could climb the podium. If not, she’s already made her point: proving that elite careers don’t always end on schedule. Either way, she’s back for one last run.
