Flavien Prat Stays At Aqueduct For Winter

Flavien Prat will base himself at Aqueduct in Ozone Park, N.Y., this winter. He typically winters at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.

What happened?

Prat has had nine wins from 49 mounts at the Belmont at the Big A meet. The meet began on Sept. 11 and concludes on Nov. 2.

He felt he wasn't riding much in California, so he's staying in New York. Prat told Daily Racing Form on Sept. 26 that he traveled a lot this winter.

The Aqueduct winter meet begins on Nov. 6. Prat will be looking to build on his recent success at Belmont.

He had been going somewhere every Saturday. So, he'd leave on Friday, not ride Friday, not ride Saturday, and take an early flight to ride Sunday.

Prat's decision to stay in New York is due to family reasons. He wants to be with his wife and children.

The 33-year-old jockey has been riding well at Belmont. He's had some good results, with nine wins from 49 mounts.

Prat's experience at Aqueduct will be valuable. He's ridden at the track before and knows it well.

He's looking forward to the winter meet. Prat will be hoping to continue his good form at Aqueduct.
