Fernando Alonso Wins F1 Lego Go-Kart Parade

Fernando Alonso won the F1 Lego go-kart parade at Silverstone on July 5, 2026. He crossed the line first, ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Esteban Ocon.

What happened?

The parade featured 22 drivers, each with their own Lego go-kart made from 28,000 bricks.

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem led the drivers away from the grid in his own go-kart. Many drivers tried taking a short cut across the gravel, but got beached.

The battle for the win

Alonso, Bottas, and Ocon cut across the grass at the final corner to reach the line. Alonso crossed it first to take the win.

The Lego go-karts were on display in a fan zone through the Silverstone race weekend. Each go-kart weighed 65kg and had a top speed of 20mph.

The wider partnership

The parade was part of F1's partnership with Lego, which started in late 2024. Lego has made brick models of every car on the F1 grid, as well as an F1 Academy car.

Lando Norris gave Carlos Sainz a lift on the back of his go-kart for some of the lap. Ollie Bearman did donuts in his go-kart on the Hangar Straight.

The plans for the Lego go-karts were agreed upon in October, starting a nine-month process. A team of 20 designers worked on the project, which took over 6,400 hours to complete.

Fernando Alonso's win in the Lego go-kart parade was a fun event ahead of the British Grand Prix. The parade did not feature the same level of crashes and incidents as the Miami parade last year.

The British Grand Prix took place on July 5-7, 2026, at Silverstone. Fernando Alonso's win in the Lego go-kart parade was a highlight of the weekend's events.
