Fabio Quartararo Wins Third Straight Pole at British GP

Fabio Quartararo secured his third straight pole position in MotoGP on Saturday, breaking the Silverstone track record in the process. The Frenchman saved his best effort for the very end of the British GP qualifying session.

What happened at Silverstone?

Quartararo's pole position came at the expense of championship leader Marc Marquez, who could not manage the front row in the United Kingdom. Marc Marquez led the way by some margin at the mid-session lull but was unable to improve on his final run and ended up only fourth-fastest.

Who will start alongside Quartararo?

Joining Quartararo up front will be Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, who was able to beat Marc Marquez in qualifying for the first time this season. Fermin Aldeguer and Jack Miller complete the second row alongside Marc Marquez.

What's next for the British Grand Prix?

The British Grand Prix on Sunday will see Quartararo start from pole position, with Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia alongside him. Franco Morbidelli was 10th-fastest in Q2 but will only start from there in the afternoon's sprint due to a three-place grand prix grid penalty. The fourth row for the British Grand Prix on Sunday will consist of Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Joan Mir. Earlier, Luca Marini and Morbidelli were the two riders to progress from a busy Q1 session that was particularly disappointing for KTM. Joan Mir threatened to pass both of them by setting the quickest times in the first and second sectors on his final lap of the session. But the second factory Honda's challenge faded in the final two sectors and he remained third-fastest in the session. As of August 2025, Quartararo's third straight pole position sets him up for a strong chance at the British Grand Prix.
