Fabio Quartararo Crashes Out of Czech Grand Prix

Fabio Quartararo crashed out of the Czech Grand Prix, his third straight scoreless weekend in MotoGP. The 2021 world champion was running 13th when he went down on the second lap at Brno.

What happened?

Quartararo has been more reliable but less explosive on this year’s bike, with only two DNFs, one of which was for mechanical reasons. He qualified on pole five times in 2025 but has only reached Q3 in three of the first nine races. The Frenchman has been forced to ride more cautiously because he isn’t in tune with the front-end of the motorcycle.

Why it matters for Fabio Quartararo

Quartararo suffered nine DNFs last year across Sprints and Grands Prix, which ranked him joint-third on the grid. This year, he has only had two, and one of those was for mechanical reasons, as of August 2024. The ceiling of the V4-powered M1 is clearly lower at this stage.

What comes next?

“The problem is, last year I knew what I was doing,” Quartararo explained, via Paddock-GP. “I knew where the limit was, I knew where I could push. But this year, I don’t know anymore.” And that uncertainty is reflected in his results, with back-to-back top-six finishes at Le Mans and Barcelona, but no higher than 13th in any competitive session since. But Quartararo is still searching for a way to get back on top. So he will have to regroup and refocus for the next race. The Frenchman will be looking to bounce back from this disappointing weekend. He will need to find a way to get in tune with the front-end of the motorcycle again.
