Emma Raducanu Reunites with Coach Andrew Richardson Ahead of Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu has reunited with coach Andrew Richardson ahead of Wimbledon 2026. The 23-year-old's decision to drop Richardson from her team in 2021 shocked Tim Henman.

What happened?

Raducanu brought an end to her coaching partnership with Richardson just two weeks after her US Open triumph in 2021. She claimed he lacked sufficient experience, but has since rejoined forces with him. Richardson guided Raducanu to the Queen's final last week, where she fell in straight sets to Donna Vekic.

Why it matters for Emma Raducanu

Henman, a former world No. 4, described Richardson as one of his dearest friends and expressed surprise at Raducanu's initial decision to ax him. Raducanu's grass-court campaign rolls on at Wimbledon next week, where she is set to be seeded at No. 32.

What comes next?

Henman hopes Raducanu's decision to reunite with Richardson will pay off, saying "he's one of my best friends and I've also been around Emma, so it would be good if results improve." Raducanu is yet to clinch a title since her New York heroics, and Henman believes her Grand Slam victory may have actually hampered her progression. The British tennis legend said Raducanu wasn't ready, physically and mentally, for top-level events after her ranking went up to No. 20 in the world. And Henman stopped short of forecasting another Slam victory for her, but maintained that under Richardson's guidance, Raducanu would be capable of delivering consistent performances. Richardson has a good history with Raducanu, having known her since she was in her early teens. So Raducanu will be looking to build on her recent form and make a deep run at Wimbledon 2026. But for now, she's focused on her upcoming matches and working with Richardson to improve her game. The duo will be looking to make the most of their reunion and bring home a title.
