Dusan Vlahovic Calls Juventus Back, Opens New Contract Talks

Dusan Vlahovic surprised the football world on 3 July 2026 by contacting Juventus and stating he is ready to discuss a new contract after his free-agent status expired on 30 June. The striker, who left the Bianconeri last week, wants to return for the 2026-27 campaign, even if it means halving his previous €12 million net salary.

What happened?

Reports from Tuttosport on Wednesday claim Vlahovic personally called Juventus management and asked for a meeting to explore a return. The Serbian forward, currently training alone under an athletic trainer, has not yet cleared his locker at the Turin training ground. Besiktas remains the only concrete offer on the table, but Vlahovic appears reluctant to move to Turkey at this stage of his career.

Why Juventus might re-sign Vlahovic

Juventus have struggled for a reliable centre-forward since Vlahovic’s departure. The club’s new Chief Football Officer, Ricky Massara, is said to be more open to re-engaging former players. A reduced wage bill could free up funds for other targets, and Vlahovic’s familiarity with Serie A could smooth a quick reintegration before pre-season starts next week.

What are the financial terms?

Vlahovic earned a reported €12 million net in the 2025-26 season. Juventus are reportedly prepared to cut that figure by about half, offering roughly €6 million per year. The club hopes the lower salary will satisfy both parties while keeping the striker’s market value intact for future resale.

What’s next for Vlahovic?

The Serbian forward plans to be match-fit for the start of the 2026-27 season, regardless of his final destination. If Juventus accept his terms, he could re-join the squad for pre-season training next week. Otherwise, Besiktas remains the fallback option, though Vlahovic has hinted he would rather stay in Europe. The next few days will reveal whether Turin’s new hierarchy can convince the striker to return or if he will embark on a new chapter abroad.
